On Halloween You Can Be Anything
When I was growing up I loved being able to choose what character I wanted to become. I remember thinking about whom or what I wanted to be. Most of the time it revolved around being a character from the Wizard of Oz or a character that had special or unique powers or abilities. In addition I always looked for a costume that had a creative element. Halloween costumes allow children and adults to show their creativity.
Creativity is needed in today’s world. For one thing it makes life interesting. Without creativity the world would be boring and in some respects one dimensional. Thinking in new ways and outside of the “normalcy” box is what allows for innovation. There are many advances that can be made with the use of creativity.
Some reasons why people are creative include the following.
1. It is fun and entertaining. If you can’t have fun then what’s the point? There is an element of personality that goes into this. The great thing about making something fun is that there is no limit or no reason to hold back. Sometimes the best use of creativity is to have fun because your opinion is the driving force.
2. It is needed to solve a problem. We can all relate to this on one level or another. There is nothing like having a problem to motivate you to find a solution. The problem allows you to be specific in what will work.
3. It is a form of expression and communication. Everyone communicates their thoughts or feelings and most people enjoy it. Forms of expressions are as unique as people are. However, the creative ways people choose to express themselves are not easily forgotten.
4. It is helpful for brain growth. The more creative things you think up the more creative you can be. When you solve one problem or create one thing it is easy to gain momentum. The brain of the creative person naturally keeps growing and creating.
Creative people have a unique set of skills. I believe they are often misunderstood. This is because they often have ideas that are so different that people don’t always believe in them or accept them. Creative people must be encouraged to use their gifts and talents with us and keep creating. Most of the time creative people tend to meet in the middle of polar opposites. Creative people are made up of ideas and skills.
The following are three ways to illustrate this point.
1. People with creativity have peace and yet are always exploring. The creative person is never satisfied with everything being the same. They are constantly looking for new possibilities and yet experience peace in the process.
2. People who create have the ability to imagine yet they are rooted in reality. I believe to create you must be willing to conceive an idea that has not been made. To take a risk takes guts but if it does not happen then nothing is discovered. The idea cannot be so unrealistic that it is not tangible.
3. People who are called to create have passion and enjoyment and yet they are very objective. I believe any creative person must believe in themselves. Personal passion comes from the inside out. It is the foundation for creativity.
Creativity is needed for people to make the world a better place. People with physical limitations need to think creatively to overcome some of the difficulties they encounter in everyday life. To become creative people have to practice and think. Halloween is just one way to do that and is a time to express your creativity. Therefore, let’s encourage a fun time of year and be creative!
